WHO IS GREG CURRY?
Greg Curry Sr. of Key West, Florida has amassed one of the largest private collections of Volute shells in the United States over a period of more than 60 years. Greg is very well known in the shell collecting world for as many years and a serious scientific collector who participates and displays at shell shows around the U.S. and is an active member of many shell clubs around the world, including the Conchologists of America. The thousands of shells in Greg's collection were obtained through purchases from leading world wide shell dealers, through trades with advanced scientific collectors, from fishermen and suppliers in remote locations around the world and through field collecting during his travels over the years.
Greg recently was honored with having an undescribed form of the famed Junonia Volute from off the Yucatan Peninsula, named for him: Scaphella junonia curryi. After many decades of collecting, Greg has narrowed down his collecting interests to only the genus Scaphella and related extant and fossil genera. Greg is now pleased to share his good fortune of being able to study and enjoy these jewels from the sea with collectors from around the world.
Auctions of his collection will be run periodically each month with very selected specimens from common to rare and also series of specimens in lots with geographical variations of particular species, a strong point of his collection, and, of course, numbers of ultra rare species that are not uncommon in Greg's collection.
